Julphan vows to integrate delivery riders into the social security system before the end of 2026, warning that the profession is prone to accidents at any time.
On 30 April 2026, Mr. Julphan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labour, along with his executive team, presided over the opening ceremony. The event was titled “SAFE DRIVE SAFE LIFE.” It aimed to promote knowledge and a culture of safety in road use among independent workers, including delivery riders and motorcycle taxi drivers.
Mr. Julphan stated that delivery riders and motorcycle taxi drivers are independent workers numbering over 200,000, currently outside the social security system. He acknowledged this as an honest profession where everyone struggles to earn a living and support their families. However, he noted that this occupation is highly risky due to constant exposure to traffic and road hazards, urging everyone to exercise caution on the roads.
He added that, to provide life assurance for all, as Minister of Labour, he is committed to pushing for these workers and operators to be included in the social security system by the end of 2026.
Additionally, Mr. Julphan chaired the helmet handover ceremony and led the send-off of over 200 motorcycles belonging to delivery riders and motorcycle taxi drivers who attended the event. He also visited booths from more than ten organizations and companies.
