Anutin Declares No Cabinet Seat Reserved for Saksayam, Says Current Team Is Sufficient

The Prime Minister confirmed that one ministerial seat is vacant but is not being held for Saksayam following the National Anti-Corruption Commission's dismissal of his stock case. He emphasized that the current cabinet is incomplete only by a vacancy and there is no need to fill the full quota.

On 30 April 2026, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about rumors that the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) had dismissed a stock concealment complaint against former Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob, and whether this would lead to Saksayam returning to fill the one vacant ministerial position. The Prime Minister firmly stated that Saksayam's case has no connection to cabinet appointments, and that the cabinet formation was conducted fully in accordance with the law.

"We will not bring him back. Let’s be clear here, there will be talk that the one vacant seat is being held for Saksayam. Since he resigned from the party and as an MP, he has not been involved in politics and respects all official rulings. I’m puzzled how the matter of the Bhumjaithai Party is linked to cabinet formation. I confirm there is no such connection, and I have never discussed this with Saksayam," Anutin said.

The Prime Minister added that the current number of ministers and their teams is sufficient for the workload. There are three to four people assisting in the Prime Minister’s Office. Therefore, it is unnecessary to fill one to three vacant seats if the work is progressing well.

Regarding opposition and Senate members preparing to submit names to the NACC for a renewed investigation into Saksayam, Anutin said this is their right and duty. He emphasized that this matter is unrelated to the current government, cabinet, or the Bhumjaithai Party, which he leads.

Anutin also commented on the opposition’s announcement to form a “shadow cabinet” to closely monitor the government’s work, responding good-naturedly, "It’s good to have a shadow; without a shadow, you wouldn’t be human."
