The government spokesperson revealed that the Prime Minister is preparing to visit Bang Yai Market in Nonthaburi Province to inspect the “Thai Help Thai X Local Low Cost” project, which promotes affordable products nationwide with discounts of up to 60%.
On 1 May 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that today (1 May) Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul plans to survey the shopping atmosphere at Bang Yai Market in Nonthaburi Province. This market is the largest wholesale center for vegetables, fruits, and meat on the western side of Bangkok. The visit is part of the “Thai Help Thai X Local Low Cost” project led by the Ministry of Commerce, extending the “Thai Help Thai” policy through cooperation among government, private sector, and 99 major local wholesale and retail stores covering more than 800 branches. They offer consumer goods at special prices with discounts of up to 60% from 1 to 10 May 2026. The goal is to expand access to affordable products for the public and stimulate the local economy. It is expected to reduce living costs by approximately 25–60% while increasing market opportunities for small retailers, SMEs, and OTOP products.
Concurrently, every Friday in May—on the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th—the Department of Provincial Administration will bring the “Thai Help Thai” affordable products project directly to district offices nationwide, offering discounts up to 58%. The public is encouraged to purchase conveniently wherever they prefer.
Ms. Ratchada added that the government’s projects aimed at alleviating citizens’ living costs cover multiple areas. Besides helping people access affordable products, there is the “Thai Help Thai Plus” project, which will assist 34 million people, including about 13.4 million state welfare cardholders and the general population. Yesterday, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the economic team to review budget readiness and program design and will expedite submission to the Cabinet to meet targets. The Ministry of Finance expects the project to begin disbursing funds on 1 June 2026.
