“Bank Supanat” sent a representative to deliver a letter to the Bangkok Governor, urging an immediate investigation into the TOR draft for contracting 34 dust sweeper trucks worth 558 million baht. He expressed concern that it favors the incumbent operator and urged cutting off the problem at its root to avoid repeating the 241-million baht, 9-month EV garbage truck rental corruption case.
On 1 May 2026, Mr. Supanat Meenachainan, Bangkok MP from the Prachachon Party, posted on Facebook that earlier in April he had assigned a representative to submit a letter to the Bangkok Governor requesting a review of the TOR draft for contracting 34 dust sweeper trucks over five years totaling 558 million baht, which shows signs of corruption and anti-competition practices favoring the incumbent.
The TOR draft shortens the vehicle delivery time to only 60 days, making it difficult for other operators without prior government contracts or prepared vehicles to compete, as they cannot order or modify vehicles in time. It defines the vehicles as simply “ready-to-use” without specifying if they must be new or used. This benefits the incumbent operator, who can offer old vehicles that have already been fully depreciated, allowing for much lower costs, while the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration suffers damage by receiving older vehicles for service.
I submitted the letter to the Bangkok Governor because I do not want complaints only after the bidding finishes. I want to “cut off the fire at its source.” If we allow it to proceed and then try to fix it afterward, even with strong evidence of clear damage and corruption, it means allowing the country to suffer losses first to catch wrongdoers later. I believe protecting taxpayers’ money upfront is better than allowing corruption and then trying to recover losses later, as by the time the National Anti-Corruption Commission investigates, prosecutes, and recovers funds, the culprits might have already died.
I hope this case will be thoroughly investigated and corrected to avoid repeating the EV garbage truck rental case worth 241 million baht over 9 months, which proceeded through bidding and winner announcement until I had to repeatedly expose the details. Only then did the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reverse the winner announcement retroactively to prevent damage and allegations of corruption.
