Sabida Supports Upgrading Na Nong Chok Archaeological Site After Discovery of 3,000-Year-Old Artifacts

Minister Sabida visited Nakhon Phanom province to receive 3,000-year-old artifacts found at the Kud Chim archaeological site, supporting the upgrade of the "Na Nong Chok Archaeological Site" into a center for archaeological, historical, and cultural learning.


On 1 May 2026 at 14:00 GMT+7, Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, visited Nakhon Phanom province to inspect the development of cultural learning and tourism sites at Kud Chim Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ban Kud Chim, Kud Chim Subdistrict, That Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom province.


Ms. Sabida also presided over the ceremony to receive 3,000 to 2,300-year-old artifacts excavated in 2010 from the Kud Chim archaeological site, including round-bottomed pottery, earthenware fragments, stamped pottery, iron tool parts, bronze ornaments, and glass beads. These artifacts were handed over to the Kud Chim Subdistrict Administrative Organization for preservation and development as a learning center for archaeology, history, and culture in Nakhon Phanom province.


Additionally, Ms. Sabida presented certificates to 18 donors who contributed artifacts to be preserved at the Kud Chim House Museum, supporting the development of archaeological, historical, and cultural learning centers in Nakhon Phanom province.


Ms. Sabida revealed that Nakhon Phanom province has high potential to develop as a creative cultural tourism city, encompassing history, archaeology, religion, lifestyles, and community identity, aligning with the government’s policy to establish Thailand as a key regional travel destination and to build high-value economic outcomes.


This visit focused on integrating cooperation among government, private sector, and community to concretely translate cultural assets into economic value. The Ministry of Culture emphasizes promoting archaeology as a valuable cultural asset reflecting the nation’s historical roots and serving as an important learning resource to advance community and national stability. This approach aligns with the Ministry’s policy to build a strong society and improve quality of life through culture, while preserving and furthering cultural heritage to drive sustainable cultural economy, create jobs, and generate income.


The Ministry of Culture and Nakhon Phanom province are ready to collaborate on developing the Na Nong Chok archaeological site, which holds significant historical and local wisdom value. The handover of 3,000 to 2,300-year-old artifacts from the Kud Chim site marks a key step in developing community learning centers for residents, youth, and tourists to study and appreciate the area’s cultural roots.


“I commend the people of Kud Chim Subdistrict, That Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom province, for jointly preserving the Na Nong Chok archaeological site and striving to elevate it

to an international level. I also thank all sectors for promoting the “UNSEEN Thai Thai” heritage to society, recognizing its value, and collecting national treasure artifacts for preservation in this museum, allowing youth, residents, and tourists to study and appreciate them,” said the Minister of Culture.


Furthermore, the Minister of Culture visited and monitored the development of historical and cultural tourism sites at Wat Phra That Renu, the cultural plaza, and the Renunakorn City Theater in Renu District, important areas for promoting local identity and community participation. She also toured Phanom Cultural Road in That Phanom District to support Thai entrepreneurs, community products, and the grassroots economy.


Ms. Sabida added that the Ministry of Culture will continue to transform cultural assets into economic value by focusing on developing quality tourism sites, connecting learning centers, museums, religious sites, cultural roads, community products, and local lifestyles in balance, to make Nakhon Phanom a model creative cultural tourism city that sustainably generates income for its people.
