Yotchanan took his family to the Futurium Innovation Center, highlighting the “Job World” zone that develops skills for 27 dream careers, strengthening Thai youth for the global stage. He expressed confidence that Futurium will greatly inspire Thai children to dream big.
On 2 May at Futurium (Future Innovation Center, Khlong 5), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) Yotchanan Wongsawat spent his weekend with his wife and children experiencing future-oriented learning at the most modern learning landmark in ASEAN. This visit aimed to promote the concept of building human resources through innovation and advanced technology.
Seven Highlight Zones – Innovations That Truly Change the World
Yotchanan and his family spent over half a day engaging with advanced interactive systems in the Innovation World zone, which focuses on creating a “thinking framework” for youth to understand how technology solves real-life problems. It features seven key highlights, including:
Transportation Innovation – Explore smart city systems and limitless future travel methods.
Robotics and Automation Innovation – Experience industrial robotic arms, with a highlight being the “surgical robot” simulator allowing visitors to practice as surgeons to improve precision using advanced medical technology.
Disaster Management Innovation – Crisis simulation rooms featuring storms and fire evacuation scenarios to train decision-making and survival skills.
Alternative Energy Innovation – In-depth exploration of clean energy sources and sustainable energy security.
Smart Agriculture Innovation – From precision farming and livestock technology to eco-friendly packaging solutions.
Biotechnology and Nanotechnology Innovation – Presenting stories of tiny technologies around us in an easy-to-understand format.
Space and Aviation Innovation – Experience moon surface simulations and design concepts for living on other planets.
A particularly popular area is the Job World zone, which offers children aged 9 to 18 a 1.5-hour workshop to role-play 27 dream careers across 9 learning centers. Examples include smart agricultural engineers, logistics planners, petroleum geologists, eco-friendly chefs, disaster managers, robotics engineers, and drug developers. This hands-on experience aims to inspire youth by showing how science can shape their future careers.
Yotchanan Wongsawat shared his impressions, saying, “I have visited similar learning centers in South Korea, which were very impressive. But today, bringing my wife and children to see what we have here, I find Thailand’s science museum equally outstanding. Futurium makes complex science accessible, fun, and modern. Importantly, the Job World zone clearly shows children how knowledge can lead to a livelihood. I firmly believe this place will greatly inspire Thai youth to confidently step onto the global stage. I encourage every family to bring their children to experience the greatness of Thai innovation here.”
During this visit, Yotchanan also exchanged views with a large team from the MHESI Ministry and related parties, led by Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister Suchasit Srichomkwan and his family, prospective Assistant Minister of MHESI Danuporn Punnakan, and prospective MHESI spokesperson Penpisit Jintasopan. They discussed ways to develop the learning space to be more accessible and enjoyable for people of all generations in the future.
