Court Accepts Case Against Former NACC Commissioner for Not Appealing Shin Corp Shares, Hearing Scheduled for 30 June

The Central Criminal Court for Corruption has accepted the case against Supa Piyajitti, former NACC commissioner, for failing to appeal the Shin Corp shares case. A hearing for testimonies at the court is scheduled for 30 June, together with the former Revenue Department director-general. The third defendant was granted bail of 800,000 baht and prohibited from traveling abroad.

On 2 May 2026, reporters reported that on 1 May at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct, the court scheduled a ruling for case No. อท.75/2569 involving the plaintiff, the Special Case Prosecutor from the Special Litigation Office for Anti-Corruption Cases 1, and defendants Miss Supa Piyajitti, former NACC commissioner and former deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance; Mr. Satit Rangsiri, former director-general of the Revenue Department; and Mr. Sutthichai Sangkhomnee, former regional tax official 3, totaling three defendants. The case concerns failure to appeal the Central Tax Court's ruling, case No. 03-3-1058/2564, in accordance with the Ministry of Finance letter No. กค 0604.2/ว44 dated 23 June 2006 regarding guidelines and procedures for appealing civil and administrative court rulings.

The plaintiff filed charges against all three defendants today; the plaintiff and the third defendant appeared at court. The first defendant is under the jurisdiction of the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Region 1 in case No. อท.95/2567, and the second defendant is detained at Klong Prem Central Prison in case No. อท.96/2564 of this court. The court proceeded with the trial using video conference technology to transmit audio and video between the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct and Klong Prem Central Prison.

Before the trial began, the court asked defendants 2 and 3 about legal representation. Both stated they currently have no lawyers and intend to defend themselves, but plan to appoint lawyers later.

Regarding defendant 1, the plaintiff stated that defendant 1 is being prosecuted in case No. อท.95/2562 at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Region 1 and requested that this court issue a letter to that court to transfer defendant 1 for testimony.

Upon consideration, the court noted that defendants 2 and 3 currently lack legal representation and that defendant 1 could not appear today. Therefore, the court postponed the testimony hearing for all three defendants to 30 June 2026 at 09:30.

The court issued summons for defendant 1 to appear on the testimony date and ordered defendants 2 and 3 to remain in custody unless granted bail.

Additionally, the court sent a letter to the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Region 1 requesting the transfer of defendant 1 for testimony on the scheduled date, attaching a copy of the summons along with the letter, and requested that court arrange the summons for defendant 1. A summons was also issued for defendant 2 to appear on the testimony date.

For Mr. Sutthichai, the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct granted bail at the hearing stage in the amount of 800,000 baht, with a prohibition on leaving the kingdom unless permitted by the court.
