Government Cracks Down on Illegal Health Products, Pursues 6,748 Cases with Seized Goods Worth 1.152 Billion Baht

The government is advancing its crackdown on illegal health products and advertisements, prosecuting 6,748 cases, dismantling 576 illegal sites, with seized goods valued at more than 1.152 billion baht.

3 May 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that the government places great importance on protecting consumers in the digital era, where online buying and selling have rapidly expanded, accompanied by risks from exaggerated advertising, false claims, unauthorized products, or the illicit use of harmful substances. The government has ordered strict measures to tackle unsafe health products and deceptive advertisements targeting consumers. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proactively enforced surveillance and law enforcement continuously since 2023, successfully blocking over 121,494 illegal advertisements, prosecuting 6,748 offenders, and dismantling 576 illegal operations with seized goods valued at more than 1.152 billion baht.

Additionally, the FDA has upgraded its operations by integrating digital technology, partnering with digital platforms and utilizing AI and API systems connected to 10 major online platforms: Lazada, Shopee, Grab, LINE MAN, LINE, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, and Lemon8. These AI and API systems detect and filter products and advertisements suspected of illegality. The FDA has developed AI using over 92,120 blacklist keywords and expanded its rapid reporting network across 76 provinces and three professional councils to accelerate blocking and efficiently manage these issues.

To protect consumer rights, the FDA advises consumers to carefully select health products by verifying the FDA approval number before purchasing and not to be misled by exaggerated claims. If unfair practices are encountered, complaints can be filed through six channels: the FDA hotline at 1556, Line @FDAThai, Facebook: FDAThai, email 1556@fda.moph.go.th, P.O. Box 1556, and provincial public health offices nationwide.
