"Teng" denies any secret deal to nominate "Chadchart" for Bangkok governor under the Prachachon Party and confirms the party will select the best candidate for Bangkok residents to decide, with the official announcement definitely on 5 May.
On 3 May 2026, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the Prachachon Party, spoke about the party's campaign to unveil its Bangkok governor candidate, following the billboard launch yesterday. "Simple Bangkok" He said the party aims to simplify issues like access to universal healthcare and quality childcare centers comparable to other provinces, and plans to officially announce the candidate on 5 May at 17:00 hrs at Samyan Mitrtown shopping center.
He emphasized that candidates must stand firmly with the people and manage budgets transparently, as local budgets often face scrutiny over transparency. Administrators must be ready to work and effectively handle political constraints.
Mr. Natthapong also addressed Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt’s announcement to seek another term as Bangkok governor, expressing confidence in the party's governor candidate, councilors, and MPs across all 33 districts to advance Bangkok’s agenda. He urged Bangkok residents to vote for the Prachachon Party as a team. He said, "I believe our party team is a strong choice. I admire Professor Chadchart’s work and believe many structural issues in Bangkok require a strong team effort. Local politics involve negotiation and pushing policies that need passing annual budgets worth hundreds of billions with utmost transparency. Sometimes, when we don’t team up, I believe Bangkok residents see which party is genuine, especially the orange-colored Prachachon Party, which stands for political transparency and straightforwardness."
Regarding Bangkok's revenues exceeding expenditures, Mr. Natthapong viewed this as normal for local income, which must be reserved for future use. While this is good news, the key question is that procurement must be fully transparent to prevent citizens from encountering overpriced purchases again.
When asked about rumors of approaching Mr. Chadchart as the party’s candidate, Mr. Natthapong clarified there is no political deal for bargaining benefits. Past discussions were only about cooperation between MPs, councilors, and the governor’s team to solve citizens’ problems. He reiterated there is no division of electoral areas, and ultimately, the people’s votes will decide the best choice.
