The government spokesperson urges the public not to believe distorted news about increasing the senior citizen allowance from 600 to 3,000 baht, confirming it is fake news and emphasizing that the existing regulations remain in effect.


On 3 May 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that

The 'Thai Koo Fah' page clearly confirmed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul never said, “Increasing the elderly allowance from 600 to 3,000 baht is pointless...” as has been circulated online. This information is a manipulated or distorted quote intended to mislead society. The public is urged not to believe this distorted news.

Emphasizing that the rates remain unchanged,

Meanwhile, messages circulating on social media about “raising the senior citizen allowance from 600 to 3,000 baht” are fake news. Currently, payments of senior citizen allowances still follow the Ministry of Interior's 2023 regulations concerning the criteria for paying allowances to senior citizens by local administrative organizations. Payments are made monthly according to age groups as follows:

Ages 60–69 years: 600 baht per person per month

Ages 70–79 years: 700 baht per person per month

Ages 80–89 years: 800 baht per person per month

Ages 90 years and above: 1,000 baht per person per month
