Sihasak revealed that the 48th ASEAN Leaders' Summit, taking place from 7-9 May, is expected to see Cambodia agree to tripartite talks. The Philippines is the host and is currently coordinating. He emphasized the importance of building trust before discussing the General Border Committee (GBC).


At 14:50 on 4 May 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave an interview at the Bhumjaithai Party office regarding Cambodia's stance on joining the tripartite meeting, which will take place during the 48th ASEAN Summit, in the Philippines from 7-9 May. He said the host, the Philippines, is coordinating because they want the talks to happen. It is expected that Cambodia will accept the invitation for talks. He confirmed that Thailand has prepared the content and details for discussion, though there is not much to discuss. The matters will be handed over to the foreign ministers for further talks.

Regarding the possibility of discussing the General Border Committee (GBC) jointly at this meeting, Mr. Sihasak replied that this will be the next step, but for now, building trust is the priority. Therefore, at the forum in the Philippines, discussions will focus on measures to further develop relations. .
