Cabinet Reviews Cancellation of 2001 MOU Hun Sen Warns of Increased Disputes, Anutin Denies Concerns

Prime Minister Anutin led a Cabinet meeting to consider canceling the 2001 MOU, stating there are no concerns after Hun Sen indicated that cancellation would lead to more disputes.

At 10:05 a.m. on 5 May 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, arrived at Building 1 of the Government House to chair the Cabinet meeting. Reporters asked about the case where Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate, said that canceling the 2001 MOU would increase disputes, to which the Prime Minister simply replied, “No.” Reporters then asked if Thailand was disregarding Hun Sen's remarks, but the Prime Minister did not respond before entering the meeting room.

In today's Cabinet meeting, the National Security Council's resolution supporting the cancellation of the 2001 MOU will be acknowledged. The meeting will also consider a draft royal decree to borrow 400 billion baht, to manage the new wave of crisis stemming from the impact of the Middle East war.
