The Prime Minister discussed with the Agriculture Minister plans to assist small-scale farmers, emphasizing two main factors: "prices must be affordable and supplies must be available" to reduce the burden on the people.
On 5 May 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about progress in addressing farmers' hardships, stating he had consulted with Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to develop effective management strategies for "fertilizer" ahead of the planting season.
The Prime Minister revealed that Suriya is deeply concerned about farmers' input costs and is working urgently to finalize preparations on two key points: first, to implement appropriate measures to keep fertilizer prices at levels affordable to farmers and reduce their cost burden; second, to manage fertilizer stock sufficiently to meet demand and ensure timely distribution to farmers.
“We must secure fertilizer supplies so that farmers receive them in time for planting. If the supply is assessed as insufficient, the government is ready to consider increasing domestic fertilizer production immediately,” Anutin stated.
When asked about confidence that farmers will receive fertilizer in time for the upcoming production season, the Prime Minister firmly affirmed that the government is committed to resolving all public issues. He has instructed relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation to prevent shortages or opportunistic price hikes during periods of high demand.
