
"Akniti" revealed that the committee to study the Land Bridge project is currently being formed after the Prime Minister assigned him as chairman to examine the project's feasibility along with all its advantages and disadvantages, stressing his desire to maximize benefits for the public.
At 13:35 on 5 May 2026 at the Government House, Mr. Akniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, spoke about progress following Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul's assignment for him to chair the committee studying the Land Bridge project. He said the committee's formation is not yet complete, but the Prime Minister has already instructed that he will serve as chairman. When asked about the committee's structure, Akniti said the Prime Minister asked him to chair the study of all feasibility aspects and pros and cons, as he oversees economic matters and thus looks at the project holistically.
When asked if the 90-day study period would clearly determine the project's direction, Akniti replied he needs to review it first. When pressed whether clarity on the Land Bridge project would be reached within this government’s term, he said the matter is one of study concerning feasibility, and that he definitely wants the project to benefit the public as much as possible. When asked if the hot issue has now fully landed on him, Akniti simply smiled without answering.
