Cabinet Appoints Veerapong as Prime Ministers Advisor to Serve as Thailands Trade Representative

The Cabinet resolved to appoint several civil servants and political officials, including Nongnuch, Chutinthorn, and Veerapong, as advisors to the Prime Minister to act as Thailand's trade representatives, as expected, and in line with forecasts.



On 5 May 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwivatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet meeting resolved to appoint individuals to various positions as follows.

1. Appointment of experts as advisors to the Prime Minister to act as Thailand's trade representatives.

The Cabinet approved the proposal from the Secretariat of the Prime Minister to appoint Mrs. Nongnuch Petchrat, Mr. Chutinthorn Kongsak, and Mr. Veerapong Prapa as advisors to the Prime Minister to serve as Thailand's trade representatives, effective from 27 April 2026 onward, in accordance with the Prime Minister's Office regulations on Thailand's trade representatives (No. 2) B.E. 2552 (2009).


2. Appointment of ordinary civil servants to hold expert-level academic positions. (Ministry of Finance) The Cabinet approved the proposal from the Minister of Finance to appoint two ordinary civil servants under the Ministry of Finance to expert-level academic positions, effective once all qualifications are met, as follows.

1. Mr. Kulsak Limpiyakorn, Deputy Director-General of the Comptroller General's Department, appointed as Advisor on Financial System Development (Senior Financial Academic) at the Comptroller General's Department, effective 27 October 2025.

2. Ms. Wachiraya Permphusri, Deputy Director of the State Enterprise Policy Office, appointed as Advisor on State Enterprise Evaluation (Senior State Enterprise Analyst) at the State Enterprise Policy Office, effective 20 November 2025. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Akniti Nititandprapas has given his approval.

These appointments take effect from the date of royal endorsement.


3. Appointment of Acting Ministers for the Ministry of Labour.

The Cabinet approved in principle the Ministry of Labour's proposal to assign two ministers to act as the Minister of Labour, as follows.

1. Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

2. Mr. Nikorn Somklang, Minister of Social Development and Human Security.

These appointments take effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


4. Appointment of ordinary civil servants to senior executive positions (Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation). The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation's proposal to appoint Mr. Rungrueang Kitphati, an ordinary civil servant and Director-General of the Department of Science Service,

to act as Secretary-General of the Office of Atoms for Peace, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. He is appointed as Secretary-General of the Office of Atoms for Peace, a senior executive position, effective from the date of royal endorsement.

These appointments take effect from the date of royal endorsement.


5. Appointment of ordinary civil servants to senior executive positions (National Water Resources Office).

The Cabinet approved the National Water Resources Office's proposal to appoint Mr. Waitit Ochawich, an ordinary civil servant holding the position of Strategic Water Advisor (Senior Policy and Planning Analyst) at the National Water Resources Office, as Deputy Secretary-General of the National Water Resources Office under the Prime Minister's Office, to fill a vacant position. This appointment takes effect from the date of royal endorsement, with Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Songsak Thongsri's approval.


6. Appointment of ordinary civil servants to senior executive positions (Ministry of Social Development and Human Security).

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security's proposal to appoint two civil servants to senior executive positions as follows.

1. Promote Mrs. Wasana Thongchan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Older Persons, to serve as Inspector-General of the Ministry, position number 7, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

2. Promote Mrs. Jittima Kriari, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare, to serve as Inspector-General of the Ministry, position number 4, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

These appointments take effect from the date of royal endorsement.


7. Appointment of political officials (Ministry of Interior). The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Interior's proposal to appoint two political officials to the position of advisor to the Deputy Minister of Interior, as follows.

1. Mr. Phanu Prawattana appointed as advisor to Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Phonphee Suwanchavee.

2. Mr. Sutham Charitngam appointed as advisor to Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Worasit Liangprasit.

These appointments take effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


8. Appointment of Acting Ministers for the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Tourism and Sports' proposal to assign ministers to act as the Minister of Tourism and Sports, as follows.

1. Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office.

2. Mr. Pradorn Prisananantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office.

These appointments take effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


9. Appointment of political officials (Secretariat of the Prime Minister).

The Cabinet approved the Secretariat of the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint three individuals to political official positions as follows.

1. Mr. Thewan Liptapallop as advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat).

2. Mr. Pradermchai Boonchuayluea as advisor to the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office (Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi).

3. Ms. Patcharin Sam Siripong as secretary to the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office (Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi).

These appointments take effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


10. Appointment of political officials (Secretariat of the Prime Minister).

The Cabinet approved the Secretariat of the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Police Lieutenant Colonel Natchapong Prasertsopa to the political official position of secretary to the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office (Mr. Naphin Srisanpang).

This appointment takes effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


11. Appointment of political officials (Ministry of Defence).

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Defence's proposal to appoint Major General Chalerm Seecharoen as a political official in the position of advisor to the Minister of Defence.

This appointment takes effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


12. Appointment of political officials (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' proposal to appoint Mr. Pornpong Kanithanon to the political official position of secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

This appointment takes effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


13. Appointment of political officials (Ministry of Justice).

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Justice's proposal to appoint Police Lieutenant Colonel Ittikorn Jirattananon as a political official in the position of secretary to the Minister of Justice.

This appointment takes effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


14. Appointment of Assistant Ministers (Secretariat of the Prime Minister).

The Cabinet approved the Secretariat of the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint four assistant ministers as follows.

1. Mr. Archawat Charoensilp.

2. Mr. Santithan Sathienthai.

3. Mr. Danuporn Punnakan.

4. Police Major General Nanchat Supamongkol.

These appointments take effect from the date the Prime Minister signs the appointment announcement.


15. Appointment of expert committee members to the Government Lottery Office (Ministry of Finance).

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Finance's proposal to appoint expert committee members to the Government Lottery Office as follows.

1. Mr. Suraphol Opasathien.

2. Mrs. Sommai Siriudomsat.

3. Police Major General Nopasit Mitpakdee.

These appointments take effect from 5 May 2026 onward.


16. Appointment of committee members to the Tobacco Authority of Thailand (Ministry of Finance).

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Finance's proposal to appoint three committee members to the Tobacco Authority of Thailand to fill vacant positions, pursuant to Section 13 of the Tobacco Authority of Thailand Act B.E. 2561 (2018), as follows.

1. Mr. Kanawut Sitithiraphan.

2. Mr. Panupol Rattanakanchanaphat.

3. Mr. Kriangkrai Patanaporn.

These appointments take effect from 5 May 2026 onward.
