Wannor Reports to Prime Minister on Building Pillars to Resolve Southern Border Issues Anutin Escorts to Office

"Wannor" submitted his report to the Prime Minister on establishing key pillars to solve problems in the southern border provinces. Anutin warmly escorted him to his office on the 5th floor of Command Building 2 before returning to the Thai Khu Fah Building.

At 14:20 on 5 May 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Wan Muhamad Nor Mata, advisor to the Prime Minister, arrived to meet Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, at the Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House. At 15:35, Wan Muhamad Nor said he had reported to Anutin on his activities after Anutin assigned him to find ways to bring peace to the southern border provinces. He had prepared and came to inform the Prime Minister.

When asked about the progress of solving problems in the southern border provinces, Wan Muhamad Nor said he had set two or three main points: to create peace in the southern border provinces, a solid foundation must be built, including area management, fairness, and economic well-being for the people. Anutin assigned the National Security Council to talk with dissenting groups. He received the Prime Minister's directive and is exploring what can help bring peace. The Prime Minister already has a team working on this. He offered his views based on his experience in the southern border provinces through two to three previous governments.

Regarding whether the situation would improve after talks with dissenting groups, the Prime Minister's advisor replied, that since the situation has accumulated over many governments, resolving it will take careful time. But if we are sincere and apply the late King Rama IX's principles, which the Prime Minister has ordered all parties in the southern border provinces to follow—understand, reach out, and develop—he had further discussed with the Prime Minister that they will do everything possible to ensure safety. He expressed regret for the lives lost among the public and security personnel, whose families lose much. They must maximize safety as much as possible.

The reporter added that after Wan Muhamad Nor's interview, the Prime Minister walked him to his office on the 5th floor of Command Building 2 and took the opportunity to visit his office. He then returned to the Thai Khu Fah Building without giving any further comment.
