Chaiwat Plans Legal Consultation to Sue Phumtham and Permanent Secretary of Interior Ministry

Chaiwat plans to consult his legal team to sue Phumtham and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, proceeding with legal action and seeking justice after the Committee for the Protection of Moral Integrity ruled the transfer order unlawful.

At 10:55 a.m. on 7 May 2026, Chaiwat Juntirapong, Secretary to the Minister of Interior, spoke about the Committee for the Protection of Moral Integrity's majority decision that the transfer order issued by then-Minister Phumtham Vejchay and Permanent Secretary Atthit Sampantharat, which reassigned him as an inspector of the Ministry, was unlawful. He expressed gratitude to the committee for ensuring fairness after he was transferred unlawfully and said he would proceed according to legal procedures.

Regarding how he will proceed legally, he said he will consult his legal team on the best course of action to seek justice and protect his reputation, ensuring all steps align with lawful procedures.

When asked whether he will take legal action alone or together with Narucha Kosasivilai, former Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration and former Director-General of the Department of Local Administration, Chaiwat said they will need to discuss this, as both received similar transfer orders.

About the committee's statement that the transfer was made for reasons other than government benefit, Chaiwat explained that after Phumtham took office and they received certain policies, before any action was taken, they were transferred in a manner not consistent with official regulations. He said the matter will be addressed according to cause and effect.
