On 7 May 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by his wife Thanon Charnvirakul and cabinet members, arrived at Cebu Air Base in the Republic of the Philippines to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit. The Minister of Tourism and the Governor of Cebu Province warmly welcomed them. The important mission began immediately that evening with trilateral talks alongside Samdech Maha Borwathibodi Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines, to find solutions regarding the Thailand-Cambodia border situation.
Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed details of the trilateral discussions, describing it as a cooperative effort with the Philippine President, as ASEAN Chair, acting as mediator and facilitator.
