What Date Is the Bangkok Metropolitan Council Election? How Many Ballots for the Bangkok Governor Election?

A reminder to Bangkok residents that the Bangkok Governor and Metropolitan Council elections will be held on the same day. Voters will receive two ballots and may mark only one number per ballot. The Election Commission has announced candidate registration from 28 May to 1 June 2026.


On 7 May 2026, the Election Commission approved the plan to hold elections for the Bangkok Governor and Metropolitan Council, along with the Pattaya City Council members and Mayor, on Sunday, 28 June 2026, from 08:00 to 17:00.


Candidate registration for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council will be open from 28 May to 1 June 2026, alongside registration for the Bangkok Governor.

Qualifications for candidates eligible to run for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (Metropolitan Council members).

(1) Must be a Thai national by birth.

(2) Must be at least 25 years old by the election day.

(3) Must have been registered as a resident in Bangkok continuously for at least one year up to the registration day.

(4) Must not be disqualified from candidacy under Section 50 of the Local Council or Local Executive Election Act, B.E. 2562 (2019).

The registration fee for Metropolitan Council candidates is 10,000 baht.


In the Bangkok Governor and Metropolitan Council elections, voters will receive two ballots: one for the Governor and one for the Council. Each ballot allows selecting only one candidate number by marking an 'X' in the chosen box. If the voter chooses not to vote for any candidate, they may mark an 'X' in the box indicating no preference, located at the bottom right corner of each ballot.
