
Minister Sabida met with the French Ambassador to discuss enhancing cultural cooperation and the ceremony to bestow the Legion of Honour on Princess Sirivannavari, as well as preparations for attending the Cannes Film Festival.
On 8 May 2026, Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, welcomed H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimbœuf, Ambassador of the French Republic to Thailand, for discussions at the Ministry of Culture on Wednesday, 6 May 2026. They explored ways to elevate Thai-French cultural cooperation through exchanges of knowledge in arts, cinema, and cultural heritage, alongside promoting the Thai creative industry on the international stage to enhance the country’s image and expand cultural collaboration.
Both parties also discussed preparations for the Minister of Culture’s official visit to the French Republic in May 2026 to participate in key events such as the 79th Cannes Film Festival, bilateral talks with the French Minister of Culture, the ceremony to bestow the Legion of Honour on Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, and the opening of the exhibition “La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity” at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Attendees included Ms. Ranee Ittharat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; Ms. Yutthika Isarangkul Na Ayuthaya, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion; Ms. Kanitta Chotikavanich, Deputy Director-General of the Fine Arts Department; Ms. Urusaya Intarasuksri, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; senior officials from the Ministry of Culture; representatives from the French Embassy in Thailand; and related staff.
