Kungfu Voices Opposition to Rushing Peace Talks with Cambodia, Cites Soldiers Recent Spiritual Ceremonies

"Kungfu Wasawat" criticized that diplomatic etiquette can exist, but there is no need to rush peace talks with Cambodia now. He pointed out that some soldiers' families have just held merit-making ceremonies to invite their spirits home and suggested it is better to quickly complete the border wall.

On 8 May 2026, Mr. Wasawat Puangpornsri, a party-list MP and Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Ruam Palang Party, posted on Facebook that some soldiers’ families have just held merit-making ceremonies to invite their spirits home. While diplomatic etiquette is acceptable, peace efforts should not be rushed. Today, priority should be given to completing the border wall in suitable areas and rapidly developing roads along the border, before initiating peace talks with the Khmer (Cambodia).

"I believe the Thai people can wait; there is no need to rush."
