Anutin Orders Intensive Investigation to Find Those Involved in Chinese Mans War Weapon Incident

The Prime Minister revealed that the Royal Thai Police Commissioner-General reported that a Chinese man carrying war weapons crashed his vehicle. He ordered a rigorous investigation to find those involved and to determine whether this links to transnational crime networks. Authorities requested time for police and security agencies to conduct their inquiries after connections to BHQ were suggested.

On 9 May 2026, at Military Airport 2, Wing 6, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, commented on the case where police from Najomtien Police Station in Chonburi Province inspected a vehicle crash involving a Chinese driver. Upon inspection, they found a large quantity of war weapons and explosives. He said he had already received a brief report from the Police Commissioner-General soon after the incident occurred. He emphasized that the investigation should be expanded to deeply understand the root causes and that authorities should act decisively and thoroughly to identify the source of this problem.

The Prime Minister added that this incident raises the issue of how foreigners can possess weapons. He stressed that no one is currently granted a license to carry firearms or any weapons. Nowadays, anyone who is not an official carrying a gun is breaking the law. This must be taken seriously, as those caught will face numerous charges. This confirms that despite prohibitions, such brazen actions still occur, and anyone who tries to persuade him to issue more licenses or permits is mistaken.

The Prime Minister further stated that he had received reports indicating that if any individuals or groups—whether Thai nationals or transnational crime networks—are involved or connected, the authorities will take full action.

When asked about the majority of weapons being war-grade and the investigation of mobile phones that might link to the BHQ group, the Prime Minister said that urgent and decisive action must be taken. Each matter must be considered individually, as there are also issues related to free visa policies and others. For now, he urged police and security agencies to continue their investigations thoroughly to gather as much detail as possible.
