Tomorrow, Prime Minister Anutin will chair the national committee meeting on Thailand's hosting of the 2026 IMF World Bank Annual Meeting, welcoming participants from 191 countries and emphasizing this as a key opportunity to enhance Thailand's role on the world stage.,

On 10 May 2026, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that on Monday, 11 May 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul . will preside over the first national committee meeting of 2026 to prepare for the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, accelerating Thailand’s readiness to host the world’s most important financial and economic summit.

The Prime Minister places great importance on this hosting opportunity, seeing it as a vital chance to elevate Thailand’s role in international economic and financial arenas amid a highly volatile global environment marked by geopolitical conflicts, energy crises, and financial technology transformations.

Ms. Rachada added that Thailand is one of only three countries worldwide to have hosted this meeting twice, alongside Japan and Turkey, reflecting global confidence in Thailand’s potential and stability. The annual meeting will be held from 12 to 18 October 2026 in Bangkok, with the Thai government expecting over 15,000 participants worldwide, including finance ministers, central bank governors, financial institution executives, investors, economists, business sectors, and media representatives from 191 member countries.

“The Prime Minister has instructed the government’s economic team to ensure that hosting this event goes beyond enhancing the country's image; it should directly benefit the public through opportunities for Thailand to present economic policies, learn new financial technologies, build international cooperation networks, and promote investment, tourism, and Thailand’s soft power to attendees from around the world.”

The Thai government has adopted the main theme for the meeting as “Thailand’s New Horizon: Empowering People, Building Resilience,” reflecting Thailand’s role in fostering a strong, resilient economy ready to adapt to the changes of the modern world.
