Conflict Against Thaksin Should End, Monporn Says: Has Always Wished Well for the Country

Monporn views that the conflict against Thaksin Shinawatra should come to an end, noting that whether he is inside or outside prison, he has always wished well for the country. Anusorn praises him as a symbol of democracy fighters and freedom.

10 May 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Monporn Charoensri, Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, commented on the case of the parole of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. On 11 May 2026, regarding how the Pheu Thai Party will welcome Thaksin, she said it must be acknowledged that Thaksin is the spiritual leader of the Pheu Thai Party and a former prime minister who has greatly benefited the country. However, the Pheu Thai Party has not arranged an official welcome because some party members may have prior commitments. Therefore, those who can attend will go on their own without formal appointment.

Ms. Monporn further revealed, that regardless of whether Thaksin is in prison or not, he has always had goodwill toward the country. Yet, he has been viewed as a political adversary. Now, Thaksin is elderly and has served his full sentence. It is believed that the political conflict against him should finally end. She wished Thaksin good health, strength, and spirit, encouraging him to look upon the achievements of his descendants and spend time with family.

On another note, Mr. Anusorn Iamsa-ard, Executive Committee Member of the Pheu Thai Party, said that over the past two decades, Thai society has been caught in a cycle of political conflict while the world struggles with geopolitical clashes, international economic issues, and structural crises. At a time when the world is experiencing fragility and major transitions, Thais should unite and work together to drive the country toward stability and dignity on the international stage. Thaksin is a key figure who has long stood for democracy, symbolizing freedom and the people's faith.

. He added that he will be among those traveling to welcome Thaksin together with Red Shirt supporters and citizens who remain steadfast in their democratic beliefs and ideals. Regarding Thaksin's future political role, it is his personal right and decision. However, what cannot be denied is that during his tenure as prime minister, Thaksin left a legacy of ideas, strategic vision, tangible achievements, and public policies that people could truly experience. At one time, citizens felt government policies were not merely distant rhetoric from towers of power but a force of opportunity reaching people's lives, elevating quality of life, creating dignity, and inspiring hope across all regions. This reflects a living democracy genuinely felt by the people.

"Worachai" urges all sectors to join hands to resolve Thailand's economic troubles.

Meanwhile, Mr. Worachai Meha, former Samut Prakan MP from Pheu Thai and Red Shirt leader, revealed activities at Bangkok Remand Prison to await Thaksin’s parole release. The event will begin on the evening of 10 May with Red Shirt supporters who love Thaksin and justice gathering to await his release on the morning of 11 May. Supporters will come from various regions—north, south, northeast, central, and Bangkok—making it a major gathering of Red Shirts united by democratic spirit. It is expected that several thousand people will attend.

The activities starting on the evening of 10 May will include discussions by former Red Shirt leaders, speeches about democratic directions, and the country's situation. Today, Thailand faces crises including economic challenges, political issues, and impacts from the Middle East war, requiring urgent strategic planning to save the nation. Thaksin represents hope, with sharp thinking, crisis experience, and connections with many world leaders, making him well-suited to help the country overcome this crisis. It is hoped that all authorities will utilize Thaksin's abilities to resolve the national crisis successfully.

"Today, Thailand faces an unprecedented severe economic crisis. It is hard to believe that Thailand’s economic growth lags behind Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, ranking lowest in ASEAN, causing great hardship for Thai people whose incomes cannot keep up with expenses. Actually, Thailand is rich in natural resources and food, serves as ASEAN’s transportation hub, a global food center, and a regional industrial hub. However, Thailand has regressed more than any other country due to division, injustice, and conflict. All political parties and authorities should unite, reconcile, stop conflicts, and stop blocking talented people so the country will not embarrass itself as having the lowest economy globally. Instead, it should revive and lead ASEAN’s economy once again."
