Anutin Rides EV Smart Bus to Phuket Airport to Promote Carpooling and Energy Conservation

Prime Minister Anutin led a group riding the EV Smart Bus to Phuket International Airport without any escort vehicles, campaigning for shared vehicle use to reduce energy consumption and ease traffic problems.

On 10 May 2026 at 13:45, after completing a mission to oversee and address encroachment issues on Phuket's public beaches, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, along with Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Liangprasert and their delegation, boarded the Smile Bus air-conditioned coach to travel to Phuket International Airport without any escort convoy.

Traveling by Phuket Provincial Administration Organization’s EV Smart Bus in a carpool style promotes shared vehicle use, reducing energy consumption. Each bus can carry many passengers and helps alleviate traffic congestion, making travel between locations smoother by sharing rides along similar routes.

During the journey, Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn sat beside the Prime Minister, providing commentary and reporting on various areas along the bus route to monitor the progress of government and Ministry of Interior initiatives in Phuket. This allowed efficient use of time to hear about issues, leading to timely and sustainable solutions for the people.

Currently, the Phuket PAO’s EV Smart Bus offers three routes within Phuket City district: Route 1 from Saphan Hin to Central Phuket, Route 2 from Ao Chalong Pier to Super Cheap store, and Route 3 from Ratsada Pier to Andamanda Water Park. The fare is 15 baht per trip. Students, elderly, monks, and persons with disabilities travel free of charge.
