"Wiput Sriwaurai" thanks the Pheu Thai Party for the opportunity to serve the people, explains his reason for running as an independent candidate in the 2026 Bangkok Council election, and urges voters to judge by his performance. He believes city development requires workers from various fields sharing a common goal.
At 16:27 on 10 May 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Wiput Sriwaurai Member of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) for Bang Rak district and Chairman of the BMC posted a statement viaFacebookaddressing his decision to run as an independent candidate for the BMC. He said that over the past several days, he has seen many questions, doubts, and opinions about his decision. Many have asked why he chose to run as an independent. He understands all questions and believes it is normal for the public to want to know the views of someone who volunteers to serve the city.
For him, what truly earns public trust is not words but the results of work. He began his political career with the Pheu Thai Party and has never denied that it was the first platform that gave him the chance to serve the people. Over time, he has learned, gained experience, and grown significantly there. He remains grateful to the party leadership and all team members.
"But today, I choose to follow a path of local development work in a way I believe in. I have resigned from the party's executive committee and from membership, and I have had discussions and understanding with the party accordingly. What led me to continue on this path is my belief that urban development requires workers from many sectors sharing the same goal: to truly see Bangkok improve. To me, city work should not be tied to individuals alone but judged on approaches, thinking, and outcomes for the people. Regardless of role, I believe sound decisions must be based on data, facts, and the public's benefit."
In closing, Mr. Wiput said he does not expect everyone to believe him from this single post. Instead, he wants people to judge based on his work, what he will do moving forward, and whether he remains committed to working for Bang Rak and Bangkok as before. For him, the most important thing remains the same: to work and to see our home truly improve.
