At 07:41 on 11 May 2026, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra stepped out of the gates of Klong Prem Central Prison after being granted parole following eight months of incarceration. He immediately embraced his youngest daughter, Paethongtarn Shinawatra, herself a former prime minister, followed by his second child, Pinthongta Shinawatra Kunakorn, and then his eldest son, Panthongtae Shinawatra. Surrounded by family, MPs, Pheu Thai party members, and Red Shirt supporters who offered encouragement and flowers, after the national anthem, he boarded a Mercedes-Maybach bearing license plate Phor Thor 4444 Bangkok with Paethongtarn. They headed to the Department of Probation to have an electronic monitoring bracelet fitted. The car windows were rolled down to greet supporters waiting to offer encouragement before he returned to his residence at Chan Song La.
Family members who came to receive him included Panthongtae Shinawatra with his wife Natthiya Puangkam, Pinthongta Shinawatra Kunakorn with her husband Natthapong Kunakorn and their youngest son Chinwakin Kunakorn, Paethongtarn Shinawatra with her husband Pitak Suksawat, Somchai Wongsawat, Yaowaret Shinawatra, and Supasak Amornchat, also known as Nong Pipe, son of Yingluck Shinawatra.
