Thaksin arrived at his Chansongkhram home, where family members were waiting to welcome him. He rolled down his car window to briefly speak with Red Shirt supporters and the media. On 12 May, he is scheduled for a health check-up at Rama 9 Hospital.
Reporters stated that at 09:00 on 11 May 2026, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra arrived in a Mercedes-Maybach with license plate PT 4444 Bangkok. He reached his Chansongkhram residence after being granted parole. Red Shirt supporters from 50 districts of Bangkok were waiting at the house. Upon arrival, he stopped the car, lowered the window to greet and wave to the crowd. Notably, Thaksin had changed from a white polo shirt into a short-sleeved white and blue striped shirt, with his daughter, former Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, seated beside him.
When reporters asked if he was happy to be home, Thaksin replied, "I was in seclusion for 8 months." When foreign media asked how he felt after being released, Thaksin raised both hands above his head and said, "Relief." When asked what he learned during those 8 months inside, Thaksin said, "I was in seclusion; now I don't remember anything." When pressed about his current health and strength, Thaksin did not answer but smiled and raised his hands in a traditional Thai greeting.
Reporters added that members of the Shinawatra family—including Khunying Pojaman Damapong, Pinthongta Shinawatra Kunakornwong, Panthongtae Shinawatra, along with nephews, nieces, and relatives—were gathered to welcome Thaksin at Chansongkhram. Additionally, Thaksin's younger siblings also joined today.
On 12 May 2026, Thaksin will go for a health check-up at Rama 9 Hospital to assess his condition following 8 months of detention.
