Revealing Images of the Thailand-Cambodia Border Fence in Chanthaburi to Enhance Security and Safety

Revealing images of the Thailand-Cambodia border fence at the Chanthaburi border, the Thai military is actively constructing the fence between boundary markers 52 and 54, spanning over 1.3 kilometers. The project is targeted to be completed within 45 days to enhance security and elevate safety.

On 11 May 2026, a security source disclosed that The Thai military is proceeding with building a border fence along the Thailand-Cambodia boundary at the main crossing points between boundary markers 52 and 54 in Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province, covering approximately 1,310 meters. This aims to strengthen border security and ensure the safety of local residents.

This area is flat terrain with a clearly defined border line. Both the Thai and Cambodian sides have patrol roads along the border. The fence construction uses a sturdy, standard structure about 170 centimeters high, with firmly installed concrete piles and beams. The posts are spaced roughly 3 meters apart, totaling about 900 to 1,000 posts. The upper structure consists of precast concrete panels placed about 150 centimeters above ground, topped with a highly durable steel mesh approximately 20 centimeters high to enhance surveillance and security along the border.

The security source added that during the work, there were occasional challenges as some Cambodian soldiers came to observe and record the construction. However, the Thai side firmly maintained that all activities took place within Thailand’s sovereign territory and are the country's rightful exercise of territorial control. The initial phase of the fence project is planned for completion within 45 days after starting in late April 2026, with continuous daily progress.

This border fence construction is not merely a physical barrier but also reflects the Thai military’s commitment to protecting national sovereignty. It aims to build confidence and reassurance among residents living along the border, ensuring the nation’s long-term peace and security.

Additionally, reporters noted that many Cambodians have widely shared images of the Thai border fence construction, which were taken by Cambodian soldiers, across social media platforms.
