Ekniti Compares Past 400-Billion-Baht Loan Decree to Thailand Strong Era Under Democrat Party, Noting Both Were Only Four Pages

Ekniti points out that the 400-billion-baht loan decree is a law granting authority to the Ministry of Finance and cannot include detailed information on every project. He emphasized that the same principle has been applied before, comparing it to the past Thailand Strong decree under the Democrat Party, which was also four pages long.

On 11 May 2026, reporters reported that after Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, party-list MP of the People’s Party, revealed documents of the 400-billion-baht loan Royal Decree (R.D.), which is only five pages long, she raised concerns about the lack of clear details, including the borrowing methods, the use of funds, and the specific projects to be funded. However, upon reviewing past records, it was found that during the Democrat Party era, a Royal Decree authorizing the Ministry of Finance to borrow money to restore and strengthen economic stability in 2009, known as the Thailand Strong project, had similarly brief details, spanning only four pages.

Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, explained the case of the 400-billion-baht loan Royal Decree, which is five pages long, saying it must be understood that this Royal Decree is a law granting authority to the Ministry of Finance and therefore cannot specify the details of every project. Looking back at past loan Royal Decrees, they have similar characteristics. The Thailand Strong Royal Decree, worth 400 billion baht during the Democrat Party era, was also only 3-4 pages long. .
