“Theerarat” acknowledged that a large number of people have rushed to apply to compete for Bangkok Council seats under the Pheu Thai party. The selection process is currently being expedited. Regarding the launch date, she said it depends on timing. She denied knowing about Dr. John recruiting 12 former Pheu Thai councilors to join the Work Work Work team.
On 12 May 2026, Ms. Theerarat Samretwanit, Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party responsible for Bangkok and its vicinity, told Thairath Online about the surge of newcomers submitting applications to become Bangkok Metropolitan Council members (BMA) under Pheu Thai, overwhelming the party. In many districts, the competition among candidates has been fiercer than expected. She admitted that many have contacted the party for consideration, most of whom previously worked with the party, some having left for other parties before returning to Pheu Thai. She said the selection process is aimed to be as swift as possible. As for when the candidates for all 50 districts will be officially presented, the work is ongoing, so she asked to wait for timing. She confirmed that the party does not officially endorse candidates under its name; rather, the process is managed by the Bangkok chapter of the party. All 50 district candidates are allowed to use the party logo.
Regarding rumors that Mr. Surachit Pongsingwitaya, or Dr. John, a council member, recruited 12 former Pheu Thai councilors to run with the Work Work Work group, Ms. Theerarat said she was not aware and had no information on that matter. However, she speculated that the original group has dispersed after Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt denied the existence of such a team. She concluded that the group is unlikely to continue. Meanwhile, Pheu Thai will not accept candidates who have never worked with the party before.
