The Prime Minister toured an exhibition promoting public health policy, advancing digital systems, building disease protection, and elevating Thai healthcare services to global standards, while also receiving an influenza vaccination.
At 09:45 on 12 May 2026, in the central hall of Building 1 at Government House, before the Cabinet meeting, Public Health Minister Pattanapong Promphat led officials and staff from the Ministry of Public Health to meet Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also Minister of Interior, to promote activities advancing public health policy and provide knowledge on infectious disease prevention.
Ms. Ploytale Laksameesangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Prime Minister visited the PCV vaccine exhibition booth titled “Shield Against Pneumonia for Healthy Children,” the Mor Prom “Super App” booth, and the hepatitis B and C virus exhibition booth, where demonstrations of hepatitis B and C virus screening were shown.
The government has announced the inclusion of the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) in the benefit package of the National Health Security System (universal health coverage card) for Thai children. Following the National Health Security Office's publication in the Royal Gazette on 30 April 2026, PCV is now a public health service right for all Thai children to prevent serious diseases such as pneumonia and meningitis.
Regarding vaccine management, the Department of Disease Control has collaborated with relevant agencies. Currently, the National Health Security Office is in the process of procuring the vaccine. The Ministry of Public Health has prepared service units nationwide to provide PCV vaccination to Thai children simultaneously by late 2026.
After opening the event, the Prime Minister received an influenza vaccination. Then, at 10:00, Anutin chaired the Cabinet meeting.
