Prime Minister Confirms Cabinet Acknowledges Free Live Broadcast of World Cup for Thai Viewers

Anutin confirms Thai people will watch the World Cup for free, ordering the Public Relations Department to coordinate with the NBTC for live broadcasts. He asked relevant parties to clarify who is financing the purchase of the broadcast rights and confirmed that the Cabinet has been informed.


On 12 May 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke after the Cabinet meeting about clarifying the live broadcast of the World Cup. He said efforts are being made to do the best possible. The Cabinet has been informed, and the Public Relations Department will coordinate with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and all relevant parties to ensure the broadcast happens as in previous events. When asked whether the government or private sponsors would fund the broadcast rights, Anutin said the responsible parties will provide details. When pressed on whether Thai people will watch live broadcasts for free, Anutin nodded and affirmed, “It must be free.”


The Cabinet has acknowledged the matter, with the Public Relations Department serving as the primary coordinator.


Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet meeting acknowledged the Public Relations Department as the coordinator for the live broadcast of the 23rd FIFA World Cup, to be held from 11 June to 19 July 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
