Chaiyachonok Says to Monitor Whether Thaksins Parole Affects Politics

Chaiyachonok said they will monitor whether Thaksin's parole has any political effect. He does not know if there is any intention of revenge. He declared the government is strong and stable, prioritizing the country.

On 12 May 2026, Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, was interviewed about former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's parole and release from prison, and whether it would affect politics. He said he did not know and was not sure if it would have any impact but would watch the situation.

When asked if many believe Thaksin has a strong political role and may still hold grudges, Chaiyachonok said he thinks the prime minister and the government's stability are quite strong and he does not believe it will be easily affected. However, they will continue to closely monitor the situation.

Asked if he thought this would not make politics more colorful or interesting going forward, Chaiyachonok said he believes national security is the priority. He feels the government today has sufficient stability and security.

Regarding views that Thaksin might seek revenge after his release, Chaiyachonok said he does not know and cannot speak for him. Nevertheless, they follow the law and act in the best interest of the country and its people, and will continue to stand firm on this approach.
