Phiphat acknowledged that his younger brother is indeed the CEO and questioned what his involvement is regarding the controversy about a major private firm buying up Landbridge land, expressing reluctance to discuss it further for fear it might backfire on him.
On 12 May 2026, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, responded to reports implicating Ama Marine Public Company Limited in land purchases in Ranong Province for speculation related to the Landbridge mega-project overseen by the Ministry of Transport. Phiphat countered by asking, “What does this have to do with me?” stating he saw no connection and that the company had already issued a statement clarifying the facts.
When questioned about a board member sharing his surname, Phiphat admitted that the company's CEO is his younger brother and asked if that posed a problem. He reiterated the company's statement denying any land acquisitions as alleged by the opposition, even a single plot, and suggested calling the company directly to verify the facts if there were doubts.
“I don’t want to discuss this because talking about it might come back to haunt me,” Phiphat said with apparent frustration before ending the interview.
