Government Advances Crackdown on Nominee Practices, Orders Rigorous System-wide Checks to Prevent Illegal Capital Undermining Thai Jobs

Ratchada revealed that the Prime Minister has ordered a continued crackdown on nominee operators, punishing assistants who evade laws. He emphasized that illegal capital will not be allowed to compete against Thai occupations. He is scheduled to visit Koh Phangan tomorrow (13 May) to monitor nominee crackdowns in tourist areas.

On 12 May 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that before the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul instructed relevant agencies to intensify measures to prevent and suppress the use of 'nominees' in illegal business operations. Investigations found certain individuals associated with legal and accounting professions providing advice or facilitating law evasion.

The Prime Minister assigned the Ministers of Justice and Commerce to jointly consult with the Bar Association and the Accounting Profession Council to consider disciplinary actions for involved professionals. He also ordered the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to examine the financial transactions of related persons to ensure effective prevention and suppression of nominee practices.

Tomorrow (13 May), the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Koh Phangan in Surat Thani Province and Phuket Province to review the situation and direct nominee crackdowns in key tourist areas. He emphasized that the government will conduct rigorous nationwide inspections and will not allow illegal capital groups to displace Thai occupations or negatively impact Thai citizens and businesses.
