On 12 May 2026, reporters reported that the Royal Gazette website publishedan announcement from the Prime Minister's Office regarding police officer appointments and the conferment of general officer ranks.Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul received the Royal Command, which stated that
By Royal Command, 249 police officers were appointed to positions and 100 police officers were granted general officer ranks, effective from 1 October 2025, as per the Prime Minister's Office announcement dated 4 September 2025.
Because the Police Integrity Protection Committee issued a ruling on 15 August 2025 concerning a complaint about unfairness in the 2024 police officer appointments between Pol. Col. Sirin Lappaiboonpong (the complainant) and the Police Commission (first respondent) and the Royal Thai Police Commander (second respondent), the respondents were instructed to consider promoting the complainant to a higher position within the Police Hospital during the 2025 appointment round. The Royal Thai Police has acted to comply with the committee's ruling and respectfully requested Royal approval to appoint Pol. Col. Sirin Lappaiboonpong, Nurse (Level 5) in the Nursing Division of the Police Hospital, to Nurse (Level 6) and to grant her the rank of Police Major General (Female), effective from 1 October 2025. The Secretariat of the Cabinet has submitted this request for Royal approval.
Now, having been informed, His Majesty graciously granted the appointment and the rank of Police Major General (Female) as proposed.
