The government is pushing forward the "Housing for Thais" initiative, promoting modern housing that highlights Universal Design and clean energy. It is accelerating the improvement of housing nationwide to support the elderly and revitalize the Din Daeng community.
On 13 May 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Phatdarasmi Thongsalouyakon, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is actively implementing a proactive housing policy through the "Housing for Thais" project. This aims to provide all groups of citizens access to quality housing at reasonable prices while simultaneously enhancing quality of life alongside sustainable urban development.
In 2026, the National Housing Authority aims to develop over 20,000 housing units under the concepts of “Housing for All” and Sustainable Affordable Housing. This includes options to buy, rent, and long-term lease, with measures to reduce citizens’ financial burdens such as rent discounts and campaigns offering over 60 ready-to-move-in housing projects nationwide with discounts up to 20% and payment terms up to 40 years.
At the same time, housing projects specifically for the elderly are being developed in Bang Lamung and Romklao areas, totaling nearly 3,000 units. These projects fully support an aging society through Universal Design principles, enabling the elderly to live safely and comfortably.
Additionally, the government is continuing to restore and upgrade the Din Daeng community, while expanding development to Huai Khwang, Ram Inthra, Thung Song Hong, and Boi Kai areas. This aims to increase opportunities for access to quality housing and improve urban residents’ quality of life.
Concurrently, the National Housing Authority is advancing green community development by installing Solar Rooftops in housing projects and affordable homes. They are also preparing to create "PM 2.5-free rooms" for vulnerable groups to ensure sustainable energy security and environmental quality in the future.
