Thanakorn Confident PM Anutin Will Crack Down on Foreign Mafia Seizing Phuket and Koh Phangan, Tighten Control Over Nominees Exploiting Thai Jobs

Thanakorn is confident that Prime Minister Anutin will act decisively to crack down on foreign mafias seizing Phuket and Koh Phangan, strictly control influential nominees who encroach on Thai jobs, and focus on attracting quality tourists to generate sustainable income for the country.

On 14 May 2026, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list MP of the Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, spoke about addressing issues of foreigners conducting business through nominees. He assured the public that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is determined to take firm action against foreign mafias occupying areas in Phuket and Koh Phangan, as well as against foreigners conducting illegal businesses and encroaching on public beach areas. Additionally, a new order will be established by tightening control over influential nominees who usurp Thai jobs to stimulate tourism, focusing on attracting quality tourists to generate income for the country and its people. The Prime Minister has personally visited Phuket and Koh Phangan to hear directly from relevant agencies, local residents, and business operators to seriously consider solutions to these problems.

When asked about past issues often arising from state officials not enforcing the law seriously, Thanakorn affirmed that the Prime Minister places great importance on resolving problems affecting the livelihoods of the people. Therefore, the government will rigorously enforce the law to build confidence internationally and ensure stable income for citizens. The Prime Minister’s personal visits aim to assure that the government will strictly apply the law. This is evident as he has ordered the acceleration of legal proceedings to fully prosecute offenders, especially state officials involved, who will face decisive action to prevent such misconduct from recurring.

“I have confidence in the Prime Minister. From now on, we will see decisive actions against foreign mafias violating the law. The government must reorganize to strictly control nominees who take jobs from Thais, as well as expedite solutions to water and electricity stability issues to alleviate public hardships. This will encourage quality tourists to visit Thailand more, creating sustainable income for the country and local communities.”
