“Phatdarasmi” Denies Political Poisoning Allegations Over News on Easing Foreign Business Restrictions

Phatdarasmi paid respects to the sacred spirits at Government House upon taking her new position, firmly denying political poisoning allegations related to reports about lifting permit requirements for eight foreign business sectors. She has discussed the matter with senior Pheu Thai Party members and cautioned to be careful.

On 14 May 2026, Major Phatdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, deputy spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, paid respects to the guardian spirit shrines at Government House at 7:56 a.m. to seek auspicious blessings on the occasion of her new appointment.

Major Phatdarasmi revealed that she has been assigned to oversee public relations for ministries under the responsibility of the Pheu Thai Party. Importantly, she will focus on communication to explain how the government plans to proceed with its operations.

Asked whether she had spoken with the Prime Minister following yesterday's interview about discrepancies in the Cabinet resolution approving the Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542 and the draft ministerial regulations listing eight foreign business sectors exempted from permit requirements, Major Phatdarasmi said she has not yet spoken with him. She explained that the mistakes might have resulted from content inaccuracies and misleading headlines. Going forward, she will be more cautious in communication to prevent public misunderstanding, given the complexity and detail of some issues. She urged the public to follow and read the details carefully. She firmly affirmed that the incident was not political poisoning after her new appointment. She also said she has consulted with senior Pheu Thai Party leaders, who understand the situation and have advised caution.
