Introducing Chayada Wipatikumprathes, former vice chair of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, who has declared her candidacy for Khan Na Yao district councilor once more, running as an independent with the "Working People" group supporting Chatchat Sitthiphan.
On 14 May 2026, reporters noted that local Bangkok politics are becoming lively again after news that “Koi,” Ms. Chayada Wipatikumprathes, member of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) for Khan Na Yao district, plans to run again for councilor under the independent “Working People” group. Chayada is a long-time local politician in Khan Na Yao and is also the wife of Pol Phum Wipatikumprathes, former MP for Khan Na Yao-Bueng Kum under the Pheu Thai Party.
Profile of Chayada Wipatikumprathes
Ms. Chayada Wipatikumprathes, nicknamed Koi, was born on 9 January 1976 and is currently 50 years old. She has served two terms as Bangkok Metropolitan Council member for Khan Na Yao district, affiliated with the Pheu Thai Party.
She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Schiller University, UK; a master's degree in Business Administration (Executive Program) from Stamford University; and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Krirk University.
Work History
Chayada has been a trusted representative of the Pheu Thai Party in Khan Na Yao, known for her dedicated work. On 6 June 2022, the Bangkok Metropolitan Council elected her as the first vice chair of the council. Additionally, in 2023, she served as chair of the Coordination Committee of the Bangkok Council.
For the upcoming Bangkok governor and council elections scheduled for 28 June 2026, the Pheu Thai Party has clearly stated it will not field candidates. Consequently, some former Pheu Thai councilors are running under the "Working People" group, including Chayada. Close sources say her decision to join "Working People" aligns with the belief that local politics should emphasize "work efficiency" over traditional political conflicts.
The "Working People" group positions itself as an independent collective of committed workers at community, district, and city levels, open to cooperating with all sides to achieve the best for the public. Chayada affirms she will continue to work with her strong existing team to serve local residents.
Meanwhile, on social media such as Facebook, Chayada has been promoting her ongoing community outreach and problem-solving efforts, sharing photos with Mr. Chatchat Sitthiphan. The "Working People" group shows support for Chatchat, who is expected to run for Bangkok governor again.
