Prime Minister Sets 21 May Workshop with Governors and Police Chiefs to Address Drug and Border Security Issues

Anutin sets 21 May as the date to convene a workshop with governors and police chiefs from 76 provinces to coordinate solutions for drug problems and border security threats.

On 14 May 2026, Phasakorn Boonlaksam, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, was assigned by the Permanent Secretary to chair a preparatory meeting for the security policy workshop scheduled for 21 May 2026 at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House. Representatives from the Department of Provincial Administration, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and the Royal Thai Police attended the meeting.

Phasakorn stated that the core of the 21 May event is the gathering of provincial governors and provincial police commanders from all 76 provinces, including executives from Bangkok and Pattaya City. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul will preside over the opening and personally deliver policy guidance to establish strategies for combating crime and drug trafficking. The plan includes intensifying crackdowns on influential figures and economic threats affecting public order, strengthening border defenses to intercept illegal activities, combating technology-based crimes, boosting tourist safety confidence, and improving timely and systematic disaster relief efforts.

Phasakorn added that the Prime Minister emphasized utilizing strong mechanisms by appointing provincial governors as central coordinators for area management, with provincial police commanders leading law enforcement efforts. Additionally, government databases will be interconnected to maximize operational efficiency. Prime Minister Anutin will listen to recommendations and conclude action plans personally throughout the meeting to ensure the implementation of security policies achieves tangible results and sustainable public safety.
