The government spokesperson clarified rumors circulating about Cambodian workers, confirming that no authorization or resolution has been made; it is merely a proposal reflecting demand.
On 14 May 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that the online information about extending work permits for over 200,000 Cambodian workers who remain undocumented is only a proposal from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). This reflects labor demand aligned with the actual needs of the manufacturing sector. The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Labor to consider this thoroughly and carefully.
The spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister also emphasized that, at present, there has been no authorization or decision regarding this matter, contrary to what has been disseminated.
