Profile of Sarach Muangsiri, Established Bang Khun Thian Local Councilor, Announces Independent Candidacy Representing the Working People Group

Profile of Sarach Muangsiri, Bangkok Metropolitan Councilor for Bang Khun Thian District, a member of a longstanding political family from Bang Khun Thian-Bang Bon, announces his candidacy as an independent BMC candidate under the "Working People" group.

On 15 May 2026, after Sarach Muangsiri, a two-term BMC member for Bang Khun Thian, announced on Facebook his intention to run again for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council representing Bang Khun Thian under the name of the group "Working People" instead of affiliating with the Pheu Thai Party, as he and other Muangsiri family members had done when they joined the Pheu Thai Party in 2025, we take a moment to reintroduce Sarach Muangsiri.

Sarach Muangsiri was born on 4 December 1975 and will turn 51 years old in 2026.

- Education: Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Dhonburi Rajabhat University.

- He is the younger brother of Sakon Muangsiri, a former multiple-term Bangkok MP and leader of the prominent Muangsiri family in Thonburi. "Muangsiri" Current family members

. On 29 August 2010, Sarach entered local politics and was elected BMC member for Bang Khun Thian District for the first term under the Democrat Party. He was re-elected for a second term in 2022, also under the Democrat Party.

Although Sarach has relatively limited experience as a BMC member, the "Muangsiri" family has long been a powerful local dynasty in the Thonburi area, especially in Bang Khun Thian and Bang Bon districts, earning the trust of local residents for many years. The Muangsiri family has had politicians winning elections at the local level to become Bangkok Metropolitan Council members since 1990 and continuing to the present. Moreover, family members including Sarach's older brother Sakon have been elected multiple times as MPs representing Thonburi districts.

In 2025, there was a significant political shift in the Thonburi area when the Muangsiri family, led by Sakon, Sarach, Narongsak, and their relatives, collectively joined the Pheu Thai Party. Political analysts viewed this move as Pheu Thai's strategy to strengthen its presence in Thonburi by bringing the "Muangsiri local dynasty" into its ranks to fill gaps and replace the "Yubamrung" family. However, despite the Muangsiri family not succeeding in the 2026 parliamentary elections,

they have continued their local political work. Recently, both Sarach and his cousin Narongsak Muangsiri announced their plans to run for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council as independent candidates under the "Working People" group, confident in their own capabilities.

Work history of Sarach Muangsiri, member of regular committees from 2022 to present:
