The Election Commission Plans to Blacklist Polling Officials Amid Complaints, Emphasizes Transparent and Error-Free Bangkok and Pattaya Elections

The Election Commission intensifies oversight of the Bangkok and Pattaya elections, plans to blacklist polling officials who have been complained about, emphasizing the need for transparency and zero errors.

On 15 May 2026 in Chonburi Province, Mr. Sa-wang Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC), chaired the opening of the first mobile media seminar to prepare for the final phase of the elections for Bangkok Governor, Bangkok Council members, Pattaya Mayor, and Pattaya Council members. He confirmed that the EC is fully prepared to manage the elections in these two special areas.

The EC Secretary-General revealed that the core of the preparation is the rigorous selection and training of polling station officials to ensure accuracy in following regulations and procedures. Particularly, officials must attentively record any complaints from voters at the polling stations to maintain transparency and allow later verification.

Additionally, the EC is set to implement new measures to raise work standards by creating a “blacklist” or monitoring system for polling officials who receive complaints about lack of transparency or neglect of duties. This aims to deter misconduct and build confidence among voters. The EC’s ultimate goal is to ensure the Bangkok and Pattaya elections proceed smoothly without any technical or procedural errors.
