From Today, Student Loan Fund Launches Pre-Approve System for New Borrowers for Academic Year 2026

Starting today (16 May), the Student Loan Fund (SLF) launches the system allowing new borrowers to submit their loan requests for the 2026 academic year through the Pre-Approve system.

On 16 May 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that the government aims to promote education and reduce social inequality to develop people and the nation. It prioritizes providing educational opportunities to Thai youth, especially those lacking financial resources, ensuring they can access education comprehensively through the Student Loan Fund (SLF).

Ms. Ploytale stated that the government, through the Student Loan Fund (SLF), has opened the Pre-Approve system to screen new student borrowers who meet specified criteria, particularly those holding a state welfare card, recipients of the Equitable Education Fund scholarships, or those from families with an annual income not exceeding 360,000 baht. Additionally, borrowers must be studying in fields essential for national development or disciplines the fund particularly promotes. This approach aims to better support underprivileged groups by targeting the intended beneficiaries more effectively.

Students at the secondary and vocational levels wishing to apply for loans can access the Pre-Approve system from 16 May to 13 June 2026. Higher education students can use the system from 1 June to 13 July 2026 via the website www.studentloan.or.th. Those who meet the qualifications and receive loan approval from SLF can then submit their loan applications through the DSL system. Existing borrowers advancing to a higher grade at the same institution can confirm loan disbursement through the DSL system from 16 May to 31 August 2026.

"New borrowers must be students who have never borrowed from the fund before, or those who previously borrowed but are changing their level of study, as well as those changing educational institutions. They should prepare to access the Pre-Approve system accordingly. After new student borrowers complete the Pre-Approve process and receive loan approval, they should proceed to the DSL system to submit their loan application form. The SLF urges students wishing to borrow to prepare all necessary documents and meet deadlines. For more details, visit https://www.studentloan.or.th/th/news/1767767963."
