The Director of the Bangkok Election Commission confirms the Bangkok governor election will be held on the timeline of 28 June 2026. He emphasizes that the ballots will definitely not contain QR Codes, as local election regulations require the use of rubber stamp impressions.
On 16 May 2026 in Chonburi Province, Acting Sub-Lieutenant Samphan Saengkhamlert, Director of the Bangkok Election Commission, spoke about preparations for the Bangkok governor and council elections. The budget is set at 294 million baht, an increase of 14 million baht from the previous governor election. Candidate registration will take place at the Airawatpattana Building, Bangkok City Hall 2, Din Daeng District, from 28 May to 1 June 2026, with the election scheduled for 28 June 2026. The ballot design will not include QR Codes, as local election regulations require the use of stamped rubber seals.
The Election Commission will announce the advance voter list 25 days before election day to allow the public to verify their registration. Those who have moved districts and been registered at their new address for less than one year will not be included in the voter list because they do not meet local election law conditions. This differs from parliamentary elections, which require only a 90-day registration period, and where citizens can petition to add or remove names before election day according to prescribed procedures.
