Chaiyanat launched the Democrat Party's first Volunteer Lawyer Clinic in Phang Nga to assist the public with legal matters involving land, debt, and litigation, aiming to provide widespread access to the justice system.
On 16 May 2026 in Phang Nga province, Chaiyanat Dechdecho, a party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party for the Southern region, presided over the opening of the Democrat Party Volunteer Lawyer Project, Southern Center, at the Sanphet Lawyers and Friends Company Limited office in Phang Nga. Present at the ceremony were Deputy Secretary-General Kuntawan Tantian, Southern Regional Head Sakorn Kiewkong, former MP Dr. Pimrapee Panvichatikul, Phang Nga Lawyers Council Chairman and former MP candidate Sanphet Thipmontien, along with volunteer lawyers and members of the public.
Chaiyanat stated that this project was initiated by Abhisit Vejjajiva, Democrat Party leader, as a center to provide legal consultation and assistance to the public, alleviate hardships, and create equal opportunities for access to justice nationwide. The plan is to cover all five regions initially. Phang Nga was chosen as the first location because the Andaman area is a major tourist destination generating substantial national revenue. Visitors must have confidence in the justice system, and the area also faces many disputes, especially between citizens and the state.
"Many people face legal problems involving land, debt, lawsuits, or daily life issues but do not know where to turn. The Democrat Party wants to provide a place where people can seriously seek consultation and receive help," Chaiyanat said.
Chaiyanat also expressed confidence that this volunteer lawyer clinic will become a beacon of equality and justice for the public. Going forward, the project will expand to provide legal knowledge clinics in all areas. The Democrat Party places great importance on closely, promptly, and fairly addressing the people's hardships and welfare.
