Teng Calls for Review of Safety Measures After Train Collides with Bus MP Bank to Summon Agencies for Transportation Committee Briefing on Wednesday

The leader of the People's Party urged a review of safety measures after the train collided with a bus to prevent similar incidents. Meanwhile, MP Suphanat invited related agencies to explain to the Transportation Committee on 20 May to thoroughly investigate all causes.


On 16 May 2026, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, posted on Facebook expressing concern for those injured or killed in the train-bus collision near Makkasan intersection and sent support to all officials actively assisting the accident victims.


He called on the relevant agencies to promptly investigate the causes and seriously review safety measures at such high-risk points to prevent similar incidents from happening again.


Meanwhile, Mr. Suphanat Meenachainan, Bangkok MP from the People's Party and chairman of the Transportation Committee, stated he would urgently convene a meeting on the morning of Wednesday, 20 May 2026, at the Parliament. He will invite related agencies including the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), Department of Rail Transport, Department of Land Transport, Traffic Police, Bangkok's Traffic and Transportation Office, and the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC). The meeting will review CCTV footage to investigate all causes and monitor the use of technology to enhance control of the signaling system, barriers, traffic lights, and train operations. They will discuss strict law enforcement against improper driving behaviors by private and public transport vehicles, management of congestion at the railway crossing, enhanced safety measures in the surrounding area, and follow-up on compensation claims for the injured and deceased.
