
The Prime Minister visited the site of the train-bus collision, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, ordered all agencies to urgently provide full care for the injured, and to expedite identification of the deceased.
On 16 May 2026 at 22:00, Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister, traveled to the scene of the collision between a train and public bus route 206 at the railway crossing near the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station on Asok-Din Daeng Road, Bangkok. He arrived immediately after the serious accident, closely monitoring the situation amid rescue workers, emergency medical staff, police, and related agencies who were rushing to assist the injured, move wreckage, and collect evidence at the site.
The Prime Minister received progress reports from various agencies, including the Ministry of Transport, State Railway of Thailand, Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, forensic officials, medical personnel, and administrative authorities. At the scene, officials continued using heavy machinery and cranes to remove the train from the accident site to clear the area for investigation and to restore traffic as quickly as possible.
Anutin expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed all agencies to urgently provide the best possible care for the injured and to expedite identification of the deceased so that the bodies can be returned to their families as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister revealed that preliminary investigation found the bus was positioned straddling the railway tracks at the time of the accident. This is a crucial issue requiring detailed investigation into warning systems, traffic management, and safety procedures in the area.
Anutin also stated that he instructed medical teams and hospitals treating over 30 injured persons to provide full care to prevent further loss of life. He ordered urgent compensation for those affected and the families of the deceased, ensuring the process is handled promptly and appropriately.
After inspecting the accident site, the Prime Minister visited the Rajathewi District disaster assistance tent to encourage staff and citizens. He also met with Seksit Yamsanguansak, Member of Parliament for Bangkok's Rajathewi district from the Prachachon Party, along with related agencies, to discuss assistance, compensation, and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
